Well hi there! I’m just your typical music encyclopedist who talks a lot, and also loves to share his interest with the world. But big deal right? Music lovers are plentiful and easy to find, so what would you need with another music blog? Well here I’d like to use this platform to explore new scenes together. This blog will feature articles focusing on specific subsections of music (whether it be genre or scenes) and feature some neat companion playlists to soundtrack them. If you’re feeling adventurous enough, then let’s see what we can find together. I like to encourage comments and people sharing recommendations of their own. Blogs can often turn into a one-way conversation, but I like to think discovery is a two-way street. My hope for this site is for the reader to find something new they like. There’s nothing like falling in love with some new music and going down the rabbit hole, so let’s surf on some sound waves and see what we find.

Who Runs Sound Surfer?

My name is Zane Houston, and I have a passion for writing, especially about my interests. I am a full time student who is looking to expand his portfolio and begin sharing his writing with the world. I prefer to make my writing as entertaining as it is informative, allowing for new perspective that is easily digestible. As the site subject indicates, my greatest love is music, specifically discovering new artists. While this site is about playlists, I also have a sizable collection of vinyl records, mainly comprised of my all time favorites. I usually like to share my favorites with others, so I believe this blog is a good starting point for exploring that interest with others. I am primarily inspired by various music essayists, primarily the YouTube channels Deep Cuts and Mic the Snare. These channels can both provide a good viewpoint for the kind of discussion I love.
